Jackson hole
It was a bit of a haul of Lander, Wyoming to Grand Teton National Park. I think it was about 150 miles or so, when we began to notice a difference in the terrain. One of the things that attracted my attention on the sides of the highway was the wooden "fence" sortof things. I really had no idea what, or why they would be on the sides of the road will be built.
My ever so brilliant brother-in-law and riding partners have explained it to me. These things help to keep the drifts of arrival after the bath on the highways. It made sense to me. I imagine that the winters can get into the middle part of Wyoming pretty bad. With the wind rushing by, I have no doubt that some big snow drifts accumulate on the highways can.
The second way in which we have traveled, the more we found ups and downs. Hills always starts a bit steeper. We have built on a street, however,. Parts of it even once in gravel for a while - Ouch! It seemed as if we were not in the mountainous part of the journey for a very long time, and the next thing we knew, we see them. The Grand Teton!
I had already reserved a campsite in Grand Teton National Park down to us in bed. Since we had a pretty good riding for the emergence of new ways, we have decided to lead directly to the campsite. As it turned out, we drove right by the side of the Grand Teton Mountains on the way to the camping area. I still think about that view!
I took a really small tent. I called it "the coffin of a tent," because you basically had the commitment to get in and out of it, and when it was formed, it looked kindof like a coffin. It was ok, but in hindsight I wish I had taken a different tent. Although it took a very small, but it is a pain, in and out. It was almost impossible to change the clothes. I have found much better tent since then.
We went back to the office, was to eat a different map of the area and a small campground, and then flew back to our site for supper. Some pieces of wood and a bit later, and dinner was cooking!
We had booked only two days in Grand Teton National Park, so we got some rest because we know that the next day was a day of riding.
Riding Grand Teton National Park is an adventure that I will not soon forget. We woke up our new camp and gave us a small breakfast before you dare to you on a journey of discovery. We have our new neighbors, it was really cool. My brother-in-law and riding partner from Mississippi, and I'm from Tennessee. Our neighbors, who it turns out, was from the south also. Wow, what a small world!.
We drove from our campsite and headed south towards the amazing peaks. It was a really cool site with information on the origin of the Grand Teton stop - and some good shooting opportunities. River bottom was small but very beautiful. We saw a raft down the river just far enough downstream that we could not say how many people have a floating trip that day.
We arrived in Jackson Hole around noon and stayed in a small restaurant for a bite to eat. The building on the opposite side of the street was one of the most interesting ceiling that we had ever seen. The entire roof of the place was covered with grass! Yes, really, really, growing grass!. We laughed about for a bit and wondered how she could cut the mower is on the roof.
After lunch we went to the "hole" for a while and then north again to the road from Jenny Lake. The lake was clear that sits directly below the increase of the Tetons themselves. Picturesque!.
In the evening we found a good Italian restaurant on the edge of a lake, and the Tetons on the reflection in the clear blue green water. We could get a table on the wrap-around platform, so we could eat our lunch while enjoying the splendid views.
Tired, full, and our eyes full of beauty today we went back to camp to start our campfire.
We woke up pretty early in the morning because we knew it was a long day. Not only that, if we look forward to the trip we planned. We could easily have been just north of Grand Teton National Park directly to Yellowstone National Park, but Naaah - that would have been part of the fun of it!.
We had mapped out the road that went back south towards Jackson Hole, then west over a mountain in the southern Tetons themselves. This route would take us sometimes run across the Grand Teton! The temptation was too hard to resist.
This would not only route we chose to take us into the Grand Teton, but we had to wind up the "back" (West, they are), we see what that looked like this page, you can. Our route takes us through Idaho, and we in the north, we prefer a small part of Montana, before going into the west side of Yellowstone National Park.
So with an eye on our road, we broke camp and repacked all our camping equipment. This task becomes easier, too. It is interesting when they somehow managed to get our equipment a little different every time on the bikes when we invite them all stacked up on them.
Once loaded, we started to look for a place to refuel on the road. I looked like Jackson Hole to the next gas stop, so off we went.
We were on our way south, to Jackson Hole. The mighty Grand Teton Mountains were to the right, and there was simply no way to run without restart now and then, a glimpse of the majestic animals.
We stopped to eat in Jackson Hole for fuel, and a small snack. When we found our way west, we drove to the increase in the Tetons
The street was fantastic. No real hard serpentine, flowing corners only slightly (some are close), when we began to climb. There were some places that we could dig down the hill behind us, look in the direction of Jackson Hole - it's strange street below you can see how you ride .. During the session went, and start the decent on the other side.
When we "landed" on the "back" side of the Tetons, we stopped for a minute to make bicycles and only the view from the other side. It was almost as stunning as the front. There were not too many jagged edges on the rocks - if they were a bit more rounded ..
Back on the road we resumed, and the north, crossing into Idaho. This is the first time I had a chance to see a real potato farm. They are huge! We have several of them along the streets, and they seemed to stretch westward ever ..
Idaho did not last very long, so it seemed. But then, if you drove a motorcycle and the wind in your face, the weather is nice, sunny and warm - the time seems to have any meaning. We have not really done talking sometime in Idaho and was, if we want to Sturgis, South Dakota will receive. We wanted to get there in time for the motorcycle rally, not too early or too late. When we plan our day, I asked my brother-in-law, what day it was, and with a look Thunderstruck, he replied: "I do not know." I think the best part was the trip! The fact that none of us knew what day it was, and even better - we did not care!
The sun has been with us for a while, but the weather began to turn to start, so we went closer to Yellowstone National Park. We passed the Wyoming state line (home of Glacier National Park), and realized that it would be nasty. Temperatures began to fall, the sun is not visible to intervene, as the clouds, the sun above us. Then it happened, began drizzling.
A little rain is no big deal, and expect of a motorcycle trip that spring. We pulled rain suits and continued our walk. When we came in Yellowstone, despite the drizzle began to turn into sleet. We both wore "cap" style helmet had no face protection. Ouch!, Pesky little slush particles damage the face!
Fortunately, the rain not snow very long and it started clearing a bit when we approached the Visitor Center near our campsite. We stayed in the center, parked the bikes and went to ensure that none of our gear was too horrible wet, before business for a few camping supplies - namely food ..
If you have time opportunity in Grand Teton Visit - please do not hesitate - it is really something.
